FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find the most important questions and answers about betterview. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to contact us directly.

Am I suitable for laser eye treatment?

Laser eye treatment can correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness and corneal curvature. Basic requirements are a good physical condition and healthy eyes. If you suffer from presbyopia, then a refractive lens exchange is usually more suitable. In a free, no obligation 30-minute preliminary examination in our shop in Lausanne, you will find out which treatment method is best for you.

Which laser procedures does betterview Lausanne offer?

At betterview, only the most modern technologies are used to ensure safe and highly precise treatment. The laser eye procedures we offer in our shops have proven themselves over the long term and are among the gold standards of refractive surgery. In addition to our laser eye treatments, we also offer lens implantation and refractive lens exchange—they are excellent alternatives if laser treatment is not an option.

How does laser treatment at betterview Lausanne work?

Laser treatment at betterview begins with your free, no obligation preliminary examination: our team of ophthalmologists and optometrists first check whether you are suitable for laser eye treatment. In a second appointment, which is also free of charge and no obligation for you, all further examinations that are necessary for a safe and successful treatment will be carried out. The treatment itself takes less than 15 minutes. Depending on the treatment method, the follow-up takes place the next day or five days later.

Does LASIK treatment cause pain?

No. In order for you not to feel any pain during the treatment, at the beginning your eyes are anaesthetised with eye drops. The actual treatment with the laser also only takes a few seconds per eye. Also, the healing process is not painful. However, a foreign body sensation in the first hours after treatment is normal. With TransPRK, pain can occur two to three days after treatment, but it can be easily managed with painkillers. A foreign body sensation can last up to five days.

Can I go blind from laser eye treatment?

No, in more than 25 years, there has not been a single case in which a person has gone blind directly due to laser vision correction. During laser eye treatment, only the cornea is corrected. Parts of the eye whereby injury could lead to blindness, such as the optic nerve, remain completely untouched during treatment. In addition, betterview uses only the latest laser technologies, which are equipped with an eye tracker that automatically switches itself off at the slightest eye movement. After laser treatment, eye diseases, such as infection, can occur in very rare cases, but can be treated.

Will I really be free of glasses after laser correction?

Yes, most clients can dispense with visual aids such as glasses or contact lenses after their laser eye treatment. In rare cases (usually with very high diopter values), it can happen that the visual acuity deteriorates again after some time. As a rule, however, laser treatment can then be performed in a second procedure.
