FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Hier findest Du die wichtigsten Fragen und Antworten zu betterview. Falls Deine Frage hier nicht beantwortet werden kann, kannst Du gerne mit uns Kontakt aufnehmen.

Can I go blind from laser eye treatment?

No. In more than 25 years, there has not been a single case in which a person has lost their sight directly due to laser eye treatment. The laser only works on the cornea for a few seconds. The optic nerve and other sensitive parts of the eye are unaffected. betterview uses the latest laser technology with eye trackers that automatically switch off at the slightest eye movement. In rare cases, after laser treatment, eye infections occur but can be treated swiftly and efficiently.

Is LASIK treatment painful?

LASIK treatment and recovery are pain-free. We will anaesthetise your eyes with drops before the procedure. Having the sensation of having something in your eye (a foreign body) for the first hours after treatment is normal.

Will I still need glasses after laser correction?

The success of laser correction is exceptionally high. In approximately 95% of treatments, there is no residual refractive error, and most clients completely dispense with visual aids such as glasses or contact lenses. If treatment doesn't restore the desired vision, we can usually repeat the process to achieve full vision.

Am I suitable for laser eye treatment?

Most 18 to 45-year-olds are generally suitable for laser eye treatment. We use the therapy to treat corneal curvature, long-sightedness and short-sightedness up to specific dioptres. If you do not meet the requirements for laser eye treatment, we can offer you the alternatives of implantable contact lenses or refractive lens exchange, which are often the better choice for people with severe refractive error or presbyopia.

Will laser eye treatment last a lifetime?

Typically, yes. Post-treatment deterioration is very rare. It only ever occurs with those who already had a very high dioptre value before treatment. However, it is essential to note that laser eye treatment does not protect against presbyopia. From age 45, the eye’s lens gradually loses elasticity, and vision deteriorates as a natural ageing process. If that happens, we can permanently correct presbyopia with a refractive lens exchange.

Which laser procedure is best for me?

Refractive therapy consists of various laser procedures. At betterview, we only offer the latest proven methods: Femto LASIK and TransPRK. Femto LASIK is the gold standard and the world’s most frequently used laser eye treatment method. If you are unsuitable for Femto LASIK, TransPRK is an excellent alternative. If you book a free, no-obligation preliminary examination, we will tell you which treatment is best for you.

How does laser eye treatment work at betterview?

In a free, no-obligation preliminary examination, we determine whether you are suitable for laser eye treatment, among other things. If you do not meet the requirements, we may suggest implantable contact lenses or a refractive lens exchange as an alternative. In a second appointment, we carry out all the necessary examinations to prepare for the treatment. This second appointment is also free of charge and without obligation. If you decide to proceed, we will schedule an appointment for the short, pain-free treatment. For example, Femto LASIK takes less than 15 minutes and you will be able to resume your usual activities the following day. We normally do a brief follow-up the next day to determine whether your eyes have healed well and your vision is developing as expected.

Is there a betterview shop near me?
