Can I go blind from laser eye surgery?
No, in more than 25 years, there has not been a single case in which a person has lost their sight directly due to laser eye treatment. Our state-of-the-art lasers correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness or corneal curvature within a few seconds and automatically switch off at the slightest eye movement. In addition, the laser only works on the cornea for a few seconds. The optic nerve and other sensitive parts of the eye are unaffected.
Is LASIK treatment painful?
LASIK treatment and recovery are pain-free. Before the procedure, we anaesthetise your eyes with drops beforehand, so you don't feel any pain during the process. Having the sensation of having something in your eye (a foreign body) in the first hours after treatment is normal.
Which laser eye treatment methods does betterview offer?
At betterview, we only use the most cutting-edge laser technologies. Femto LASIK is the gold standard and the world's most frequently performed laser eye treatment. It is pain-free, takes only 15 minutes, and most clients can enjoy significant vision improvement the very next day. If Femto LASIK is not possible for you (e.g. due to thin cornea), then TransPRK is an excellent alternative. In case of severe refractive error or presbyopia, we can do implantable contact lens or a refractive lens exchange instead. What is the probability of success for my laser eye correction?
The success of laser correction is exceptionally high. In approximately 95% of treatments, there is no residual refractive error. If treatment doesn't restore the desired vision, we can usually repeat the process to achieve full vision.
What ages are suitable for a laser eye treatment?
Generally, about 98% of all 18 to 45-year-olds are suitable for laser eye treatment. There may also be a possibility of laser vision correction for people over the age of 45. However, starting at the age of 45, a refractive lens exchange, replacing the body's own lens, is preferable and available at betterview. We will determine and discuss the most suitable treatment method for you in our free, no-obligation examinations.
How exactly does a lens treatment work?
The procedure of a lens treatment is identical to the four steps of a laser eye treatment: free preliminary and primary examination, followed by the treatment and follow-ups. The treatment itself only takes a few minutes per eye. Afterwards, you stay in the shop until you feel ready to go home.
What is a refractive lens exchange, and what are the treatment's advantages?
A refractive lens exchange consists of replacing the eye’s natural lens with an artificial lens (IOL, intraocular lens). The procedure corrects severe ametropia as well as presbyopia. After a refractive lens exchange with a multifocal lens, you can see clearly again, at all distances, and prevent cataracts at the same time.
